last update on: 05/05/2025

This webinar is Part 1 of a four-part professional development series on Clemency for Criminalized Survivors, for community-based advocates, program leadership, attorneys who represent victims of battering charged with crimes, and anyone interested in learning more about clemency for criminalized survivors. The series is presented by Rachel White-Domain, JD,, Director of the Women & Survivors Project at the Illinois Prison Project, Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and a nationally recognized expert in advocating for criminalized survivors whose practice and teaching are devoted to post-conviction, resentencing, parole, and clemency matters. Participants will learn the basics of clemency for survivors, including a “blueprint” for developing an effective petition, building the best team, investigation and documentation, and proactively dealing with information often used to discredit the survivor’s story of survival. Parts 1 and 2 provide a comprehensive Introduction to Clemency. Part 3 covers Investigation and Documentation, and Part 4, “No Perfect Victims.”
