Intimate Partner Violence Reunification: A Victim-Centered Approach to Corrections
The Department of Corrections, County Probation Officers, Community Corrections Act Counites, Violence Free Minnesota and community-based victim advocacy have developed a set of guiding principles specific to the issue of reunification between victims/survivors, at-risk persons, and clients when there is a history of domestic violence and the client is being released from a Minnesota correctional facility, requesting an intrastate transfer, or is on probation. The IPV Reunification Principles provide guidance for approaching reunification through a victim-centered lens.
This training provides an in depth review of the IPV Reunification Principles from a victim-centered lens as well as provides opportunities to work through real reunification request cases. Topics covered include:
- Dynamics of intimate partner violence
- Hallmarks of a victim-centered approach
- Working with clients with IPV histories
- Considerations for reunification
- Best practices when working with victim/survivors
- Safety planning and safety wrap-around services
- And more..
The training is divided into four modules:
- Module 1: A Victim-Centered Approach to Corrections
- Module 2: Intimate Partner Violence Reunification Principles
- Module 3: Working with IPV Clients and Survivors
- Module 4: Putting it into Practice
