Sexual and intimate partner violence are global public health problems linked to a range of health issues and high economic costs. The translation of research into practice and prevention strategies tailored to local needs and culture has added to practitioners’ ability to implement effective approaches. However, over the decades sexual and intimate partner violence prevention has been largely informed by Westernized countries leaving out continent- and culture-specific strategies, lessons, and perspectives.

This web conference examines global perspectives and lessons on preventing sexual and intimate partner violence from practitioners working outside the United States and explores how these strategies can inform the work of U.S.-based prevention practitioners, particularly those working with immigrant communities. This web conference also explores how global health approaches to sexual and intimate partner violence link to other health issues and expand community-level violence prevention strategies.
