Integrating Domestic Violence and Substance Use in Safety Planning

Learn how to use an intersectional, trauma-informed approach to safety planning that addresses both domestic violence and substance use. Gain skills to support survivors facing substance use coercion by building trust, encouraging open dialogue, and focusing on their goals and strengths. Explore how the “drug, set, setting” framework can inform tailored safety strategies, and learn to apply the stages of change model to meet survivors where they are. Understand how strengthening recovery capital can support survivors’ healing and safety.
