Journalist Playbook: Helping journalists cover domestic violence with depth and care

Research and Data

From survivor perspectives to real-world examples of good journalism, find the tools and sources you need to report on domestic violence.

Blue Shield of California Foundation funds this playbook in recognition of the critical role journalists play in changing the conversation about domestic violence.

This resource reflects the input of dozens of working journalists, survivors of and people experiencing domestic violence, and advocates and practitioners in the fields of domestic violence, health equity, and journalism.

California Partnership to End Domestic Violence assembled the advisory group for the first edition and contributed much of the content. Daylight Design developed the website based on extensive research, synthesis, and human-centered design.
