College students who have experienced sexual violence and use languages other than English, including American Sign Language (ASL), may encounter added challenges when seeking support on campus. Join VALOR and Asian Pacific Institute on Gender Based Violence (API-GBV) for a web conference focused on how campus advocates can effectively work with interpreters when supporting multilingual and Deaf student survivors.

This session will explore practical strategies for preparing for interpreted conversations, communicating information clearly, and recognizing when something may not be working as expected. Participants will learn how interpreters, bilingual staff, and campus advocates each play a role in supporting students, and those roles work together across campus settings.
