This two-part web conference series will provide professionals supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) a foundation for being able to respond to sexual assault disclosures in a trauma-informed way. The series will help build knowledge around the prevalence of sexual assault and people with I/DD, services available to survivors of sexual assault in the community, the impacts of trauma, and more.

The first session will provide basic information on sexual violence and considerations like mandated reporting and conservatorship, as well as the conditions that put people with I/DD at high risk for experiencing sexual violence. The second session will focus on trauma, trauma-informed care, ableism, and strategies to combat ableism in care provision.
