Early Warning System to Stop Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
Can we stop FGM without real-time data about the girls at risk of being cut? The answer is no. To address this our panel of expert includes Mahnaz Harrison, founding President of Last Mile4D, Heather Marlow, Senior Research Scientist at the International Center for Research on Women, Catherine Menganyi an FGM survivor turn activists, and Cheryl Thomas founding Director of Global Rights for Women will yield much needed insights into the importance of real time data in helping to save at-risk girls.
Building on proven successes in Kenya, the panel will give practical knowledge for FGM prevention, and, when necessary, how to successfully intervene. It will highlight the importance of community centered programing and the engagement of all stakeholders, including but not limited to government authorities, in bringing this “silent” crime of FGM out of the shadows and into daylight, in order to stop it.
