This panel discussion on gender based violence in the context of immigration enforcement was held at the 2026 UN Commission on the Status of Women annual meeting. It was co-organized by BWJP's Center on Global Rights for Women and MOSAIC Initiative, in partnership with CEDAW Rising, Tahirih Justice Center, the Alliance for Immigrant Survivors, Esperanza United, and the University of Miami Human Rights Clinic.

Using Minneapolis as a case study, the panel examined the impact of aggressive immigration enforcement on survivor safety and community trust. The session offered practical tools and reference materials for advocates and community members navigating increased fear and ICE-related violence.

Panelists included Mary Hansel (CEDAW Rising), Archi Pyati (Tahirih Justice Center), and María Ruis Méndez (BWJP) who has stepped up as a Minneapolis-based grassroots leader supporting immigrant survivors.
